After two years of my leather belt slowly falling apart, I was ready for a change. I looked at real full leather straps but found them too big and bulky. You looked as if you were wearing half a cow around your waist. Then I decided to try the cloth belts that the military use. I assumed that if they use them they must be strong and reliable. By this point a lengthy search and verification process had been undertaken. I looked for both high and low but found that due to their basic design, only the buckle could have problems. Decision to take a risk I bought this belt and I am very excited! The belt is very strong and very easy to cut to length. I was also amazed at the variety of colors you can get it in. The buckle is not very good quality metal and I suspect it is electroplated. However, I don't think this will affect the lifespan or use of this product in any way. While there's a lot to be said for leather style, I find durability and simplicity far more important. Conclusion: If you want a simple but strong and reliable belt, I would buy this instead of a leather belt anytime. that the life or use of this product will be adversely affected in any way.
