Review on πŸ”₯ Bernzomatic TS8000 - High Intensity Trigger Start Torch, Black: Unmatched Power for Torch Applications by Michael Godo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I had one that broke after a few years of use. I went back to a cheap burner for a while and regretted it.

This is the second Bernzomatic burner of this type that I own. This new model generates a lot more heat than my first one. If you've ever had a vortex flame burner, you'll never go back to the tip of a pencil. You can turn off the faucet so you can still reach the tip of the pencil, but you can raise it up for some serious heat and soldering. If you try this with cheap torches you will blow out the flame long before you have such a flame. There were several criticisms that it was not easy to ignite. There is a method where you partially squeeze the trigger until the gas comes out and then pull it all the way down to ignite the gas. A quick pull creates a spark before the gas enters and won't ignite on the first try. Another nice feature is that this torch will light up whether you place it on a small flame or heat it up. Conventional flares must always be switched off in order for them to ignite.

Pros
  • Automatic start/stop ignition starts easily and extinguishes flame
Cons
  • No instructions
