Review on Lepro Compatible Dimmable Equivalent Required by Jim Chick

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Updated Review: Better than I thought it would be in a week or so

Needed replacement for hot, energy-intensive halogen bulbs. These should be smart bulbs, so that's a plus. They're compatible with Alexa (in a way), but first you'll need to install the Lepro app (which is a pretty clunky app). You can't connect more than one lightbulb at a time — and each pairing attempt takes a minute or two. You will only find out if the pairing has failed after a long wait. Couple failure is more common than success, but in most cases it happened. Every time a lightbulb connects, the app forces you to click the "How to turn lights on and off for jerks" animation. After all that, you can add the Lepro skill to Alexa and see if she sees the lightbulbs. And of the 4 bulbs I bought for my 4 bulb light, one stubbornly refuses to connect. I've plugged it into a different outlet several times, thinking maybe it's not getting a good signal, but. no I find the WLAN equipment of the lamp bad. So I guess I can just use a light switch (which defeats the purpose of paying a little more for smart bulbs) or throw away a working but unpaired fourth bulb (making the cost per bulb much higher than I planned). ). I don't think I can return just one and I really don't want to risk buying more of these. UPDATE: After about a week I found I had to rewire the lightbulbs for what seemed like the tenth time. This time, however, they all came together quite simply with the Alexa skill. I'm not sure what changed, maybe the app or skill was updated, but it's been working really well ever since.

Pros
  • LED bulbs
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other options
