Like the previous elf I had, this thing takes amazing point and shoot photos. When I walk around Disney World and see people using their phones, I laugh because they obviously have no idea that megapixels don't mean zoom when the only zoom you can do is digital. Optical zoom is the only way out and this camera has a wide optical zoom range considering its size. This thing fits right in my pocket. I can pull it out and turn it on as fast or faster than I can pull out my phone, unlock it, and get to the camera app. I love my DSLR (also a Canon) but it couldn't be better if you don't want to lug around a large camera. My DSLR is great for instant photos, so it's easy to capture fast-moving scenes with it. Cell phone cameras are VERY slow. This particular camera is somewhere in the middle. Taking a photo after pressing the button is not as fast as a SLR camera, but much faster than a mobile phone. So I would call it a win. My previous elf was metal. It's plastic. Sure, this camera cost me less than my last eleven, but I'd pay more for metal. Also, this chamber is physically larger than the previous one. The screen is bigger, that's probably why, but I haven't complained about the screen size so far.
