FYI, if you haven't noticed yet, these are made in China. The radio works fine. I wear hearing aids, but even so, the sound quality through the small speaker is still clear enough for me to understand, and it also has plenty of volume too. Although I've kept my license current, I've been out of Ham radio for 20 years. Many of the features both on the radio, and repeaters were around back then, but a few new things have been added. Between the translated manual, and my old knowledge, there was a bit of a learning curve to get back on the air. But it was doable. The case is not nicely finished. There are some spots rough to the touch, and a couple of corners are a little more sharp than they should be. Also, someone got a little sloppy with some glue putting it together at the factory. I don't feel that any of that should dissuade you though. I mean, the electronics work well, and my god. look at the price.
