A vacation trip was coming up and I decided to record a video for the family archive. But I didn’t just want to spawn a bunch of garbage videos, a la “oh, take potsons, this one I’m here!”, “and now I’m here!” and then after six months forget about it, and try to mount a semblance of a film upon completion. Accordingly, there was a need for a device to film yourself and the environment from the outside. At first I was looking for a simple selfie stick, but then I unexpectedly discovered a new type of device: _stabilizers_ (they are also called gimbals or steadicams). I liked the way they work and what tasks they solve. However, the big disadvantage was that these devices were intended for vlogging. For a banal selfie with the company, the length of the handle was simply not enough, it was not telescopic. And then Wimble Van turned up). All the stars "aligned" in it just for my goals: 1. Telescopic handle. What you need for family selfies); 2. Stabilization. It is implemented only on one, but it seems to me, the most problematic axis - the horizontal one. It is in it that all the shoals of crooked hands come out). If we take into account the presence of a stub in the camera / smartphone (just my case - Xiaomi Mi 9), then you can not chase 2- and 3-axis stubs. This, basic, stabilization may be quite enough; 3. Can be used as a tripod; 4. More or less well-known brand, respectively, some hope for the quality of materials and workmanship; 5. Price. Still, classic gimbals cost not quite a penny, so the fact that Wimble Van turned out to be a little more expensive than a good selfie stick seemed attractive to me. Now the trip is over, a lot of material has been filmed. I liked Wimble Van, despite the shortcomings that I noted above. It is fully compatible with Xiaomi's native camera, so no Feiyu ON app was needed. As a result, it is worth noting that the device is really universal. But, like any universal device, it is not perfect in all aspects at once. If you have goals similar to mine, then I definitely recommend the stub!
