All parts are made of hard plastic. The large container is thick and strong and the straps appear to be securely fastened. The 3D figures are lighter than I expected, but they have wonderful texture and are easy for my son to handle. Each item is light enough for even the smallest child to carry. The characters only have one face. My son would have nowhere to hold them if they were firm and smooth, so the cup shape they have helps him hold the toys better while aligning them with the mold holes. I am very happy with this toy. It feels sturdy and my son loves it. He quickly figured out how to take the toys out and put them back in.
