I bought this camera in November 2014. I had a particular fondness for Canon as I was replacing a Canon camera that I had been using for about 10 years. It was a very durable Canon Elph that finally breathed its last when the protective front lens fell out of the camera. I expected the same excellent quality I've experienced from any device with the Canon name. Unfortunately this camera died after only 7 months of use. I've never dropped it, but for some reason the protective screen on the lens doesn't fully open. I was also annoyed that I had to reset the date and time every time I charged the battery. If you haven't set the date and time, it means you went back in time to take photos in 1970. So goodbye Canon, hello Nikon.
