The first picture is the original version from the 1966-1970's. In the second picture you can see the logos were added between the mid 1970's and 1990's (the pair is heavily worn but shows changes) and this is how I've been wearing since the 1980's as a freshman to high school. I relied on my older sister to dress me because I was transferring from school to her city and I was from Tahoe, so as a high school freshman I wouldn't fit in the valley. They were cool, popular and because they looked like ski boots (which is how they were apparently constructed, fun fact) I loved them. The third photo is what I've been wearing ever since. Since then I've only worn them as casual shoes. So quite a few pairs and maybe at least 10 pairs from Revain. Revain only has a few sizes left of the "original" design in white and the later black version that appear from time to time. The "Men's Classic VNs" I tested really only differ in the height of the back of the shoe, the softness of the leather (not a terrible week-long break-in period), but they really don't last that long with the exception of the outsole. Some describe the color fading or wearing off sooner and I agree but hey that's all I can find and I'm happy with the look. They're close enough, and if due to wear and tear I'll have to buy a pair sooner rather than later? Well I'm 51 and not a struggling student anymore lol. Trust me I checked and until a better version comes out they are great. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
