They work well for grabbing my shoulder length hair and pinning it up. The clips hold the hair well and aren't so big that I use them to cling to anything. Some bobby pins that hold hair well are so tight that when they come loose from you, they'll fly around the room. It's not like this. I can easily grab them with one hand while pulling my hair up with the other hand. I love the color scheme as I wear black most of the time, but every once in a while I prefer a colored hair clip.
