Review on πŸš— MasTrack - Premium GPS Car Tracker with Family and Fleet Monitoring, Engine Diagnostics, and Smartphone Compatibility - No Monthly Fees! by Scot Hughes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Simple, works, affordable price

The usual three. Completely plug-n-play. Installation is instant (literally). I recommend getting a right-angle OBD extension cable about 3 feet long that you can use to bundle both the MasTrack and the cable together so they're out of the way, rather than sticking out of the under-dash OBD port. I plugged it in first, by the time I looked at the live position data on the map it was about 10 minutes. That includes the time it took me to sign up for an account on their website, activate the device, and sign up for a monitoring plan. The interface on the site is (as others have pointed out) a little clunky, but if you're a bit tech-savvy and used to things like this, you won't have a problem navigating it. The lack of a dedicated mobile app is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. You can get by with a mobile browser and I don't mind, but really. There's just no excuse for not having an app. One more thing, because it's portable (strength), it's easy to remove (weak point, depending on why you're using it). You'll know if that's happening or if it's being moved to another vehicle, but there's little consolation if your tracking just winks because the device wasn't connected. This is why I recommended using an extension cord to keep it away from the OBD port. You can buy commercially available plastic security loops/seals to wrap around and see when/if this happens, although it would be nice if they remembered to make a hole in the clam shell itself to make this easier. Bottom line, I wanted something that was plug and play, quick and easy, and not very expensive. That's it. Long term reliability? No idea. The time will show. But my first impression is very positive, enough for me to come back to appreciate it.
