Review on Philips SHN2500 Noise Canceling Discontinued Manufacturer by Chris Webb

Revainrating 5 out of 5

They are very good for isolating yourself from noisy colleagues

I bought them because I work in an office where more than 20 women and other people pass by all the time. People are very loud, talking and chatting while I have a deadline and try to get my work done. Distracting to say the least. These headphones are amazing. The noise-cancellation increases the volume of the music and also adds some white noise, effectively blocking out external distractions. The downside is that the battery drains quickly. At this point you'll need to turn off the noise-cancellation if the volume drops and you get a lot of crackling. I think batteries are desirable. Also, I wouldn't recommend them for any use other than your desk. I used them once as headphones on a walk and they are very heavy and stretchy. I think there is a special way to use them to prevent this, but I couldn't figure it out and am planning to only use it on my desktop. My right ear just stopped working. This happens quite often with headphones but it really annoys me as they stay plugged into my computer and never leave my desk. I'm not reordering as they are now $30 which was the full purchase price of my order last time including headphones, new release book and coffee maker cleaner. :( I find regular in-ear headphones just don't block colleagues' chatter, very sad, need a good replacement.
