My wife and I tried to open the pump every day for a week after purchase, reading the instructions and reviews about it. After a week of pushing, twisting, and gently tugging in every combination imaginable, I finally pulled the pump hard enough to just break it open to see what's inside, hoping to align the threads or something. I reassembled it without finding what I needed and finally it worked on the next try. Don't buy this product expecting the pump to work, just buy another one for a few bucks and get rid of the headache, what they give you isn't even good. When working, keep it away from water (like in the shower). It's an open hole with a cheap rubber seal that doesn't support the length of the bottle. They cut corners here, but other than that the product seems good. I will most likely just buy another beard product next time if I don't have a pump.
