Although made for reptiles, I installed them in my cricket aviary. I sweated in the suitcase and then closed the lid. The next day I opened the lid and smelled a strong plastic smell. All the crickets that were in the aviary were dead! It may be safe for reptiles but not for insects. I highly recommend leaving it outside to air out for a few or weeks before use, which I had to do. Crickets are pretty hardy, so I ignored the smell and assumed they'd be fine.
