I bought my 2008 Vstrom a few months ago. Wanted to change the brakes for the upcoming trip. After removing the old pair, I noticed that the brake pads were more than halfway through their lifespan. They were from another high quality brand and were a different company version of these HH pads. I did not remove or inspect the old pads for wear prior to purchase. For me, these pads hold up just like the ones that were previously installed. They definitely hold up better because they're brand new. All you have to do is pull back on the brake lever a little and you'll be stopped very quickly. If you are replacing the front brake pads on the Vstrom remember that you will also need to purchase the EBC FA231HH as there is one pair for the right caliper and one for the left caliper. The rear brake on this bike is generally not that good. I didn't replace the rear brake pads with EBC equivalents because the pads are still in shape and because 90% of the braking on a bike has to come from the front brakes.
