According to the description they are made of foam rubber. I didn't buy them for my son but he did. While we were in Las Vegas and Zion NP (weather 100+). In the twinkling of an eye, one of the shoes simply changed its shape. warped and shrunk (like heat shrinking, except they didn't shrink at the same rate - the shoe's edges prevented it from reverting to a completely "normal" appearance). I would be wary of using them on the beach when walking on sand which can get very hot. My rating comes after a few weeks of use, which my son used as intended.
