Review on Mirrored Turntable LP Phono Cartridge Stylus Alignment Protractor Tool with Optional VTA Adjustment by John Larsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to use adjustment tool with video

When installing a new cartridge you should read the player manual or possibly the cartridge manual and do a rough adjustment of the protrusion first. For my cartridge, which was already attached to the shell, this was quoted as the distance from the tip of the needle to the back of the shell (excluding the insertion tube) ranging from 49mm to 52mm. Then go to: https://www.hudsonhifi.com/pages/instructions and watch the video: How to set up the player cartridge. The site can also be conveniently printed on a protractor. After seeing what to do with the video instructions above, the mirror protractor is easy to use. The mirrored version's lines protrude slightly from the glass and can make it difficult to center the pen. and mirrored lines can be visually confusing. But these are not really significant problems. I don't know how the mirrored version would compare to the high contrast version, but I think both would work fine. Last note. If you have a cartridge permanently attached as part of the tonearm, adjustment is not possible and the protractor will only tell you how misaligned it is without you being able to correct it. how the mirrored version would compare to the high contrast version, but I think both would work fine.
