Not happy at first with the gray velor earpads, but I read in a review that the black "SoftTouch" earpads offer better noise isolation and are probably easier to keep clean with reflection . They are also probably newer builds. The 32ohm version works best for my needs as I can easily plug it directly into my phone (since I don't have a 3.5mm jack on my phone) or my laptop with the right dongle. .The sound is really good and you can easily distinguish good recordings from bad ones. I'm a fan of the old school design and they seem to be built to last. wireless option. The included extension cord is a nice touch and allows me to roam around. I paired it with a Blue Yeti X mic on a laptop and it works flawlessly. But I also like to use them when I'm just walking with my phone. [update] I'm a big fan of Beyerdynamics now. The soundstage is huge and details are crisp. I'm listening to Johnny Cash right now and I'm amazed at the details I don't normally hear before. I remember listening to a Netflix show on a soundbar TV and being blown away. Then I started listening to the same shows with these connected buyers and now the experience isn't the same at all. These benches rock my sound.
