This set of six coasters looks good and performs well. The coasters are made of a polished, nonporous imitation marble substance that is remarkably genuine looking. They have a felt-like backing to protect whatever surface you use them on. They are about 3 ¾” square and half an inch thick. They are quite hefty and don’t slide around on smooth surfaces. Also, their weight assures that condensation from a cold glass will not cause them to lift up when you pick the glass up. They don’t absorb spills and clean easily. They are large enough to accommodate all the tumblers, stemware and mugs I placed on them. The manufacturer’s insert in the package describes them as fragile, so I can only assume they might break if dropped on a hard surface such as a tile floor. While these coasters would be a nice gift, their packaging is unattractive. They are boxed in plain brown corrugated cardboard, and inside the box the coasters are slotted into a Styrofoam cocoon. For gifting you might want to rebox them in a more attractive presentation.
