We have used several chemicals in our black van tank and have never had a problem with them. However, as we were visiting our kids in Alabama for most of July, we thought something that would prevent odors and/or liquefy waste better might be worth trying, in this heat and humidity. We were "amazed" by how smooth everything was on our next dump (about every 4 days) and have been using it ever since. There were never any smells which is probably saying something given the heat! I can also say that it helped "clean up" our tank as the residue from each landfill keeps washing out and the tank appears cleaner. So we used the drop-in in both of our gray tanks as well and found we had some junk in the ones it worked on too. We don't use it in gray tanks at every dump (maybe every fifth dump or so), but we intend to use it as a gray tank maintenance item as well. I feel like it just helps in our situation by adding a little more enzyme to the black tank and less etching of the toilet seals. So far, so good! I have to say that we will most likely be regular customers. It seems a bit pricey (my reason for not giving 5 stars) but overall I think it's a very good product. You should at least try it because it works as well or even better than any of the so-called "tank cleaners or probes" we've used in the past. Instead of purchasing these products, our regular maintenance routine now replaces the need to use these tank cleaners in the first place.
