For $27 my 17 year old $600 Dyson Animal DC14 works like new! Installation took about 30 minutes, and the longest time was attaching the belt to the brush roller (I also bought a new one). There are great videos on YouTube showing how to do it. I can't believe how stretched the old belt was and that's probably why there was a crackling and grinding noise every time I turned on the vacuum. Not only can you replace the belt, you have to replace the entire clutch assembly, but at a very reasonable price, that's not a problem. When you replace the clutch, you also replace the brushroll. You will not regret it! One more thing. I have decided to buy a genuine Dyson clutch assembly and brushroll. Yes, a few bucks more than generic parts, but I wanted to make sure the parts were factory supplied and I wouldn't have any issues with fit, installation, and durability. Hey, genuine parts lasted 17 years!
