I use a Shure SM7 mic, so most entry-level to mid-range mixers don't have enough preamps for the mic to work properly. Sign up for Cloudlifter. I was skeptical, but since Shure recommended it, I went and bought it. Wow! Brought the SM7 to life on my entry level Mackie mixer. Very impressed with the sound quality, the build quality (looks like a solid block of aluminum) and reassuring that it's all backed by a good warranty. Actually sounds cleaner than without, since I can turn down the gain on the preamp. Crystal clear sound, thanks Cloud! UPDATE: A year of daily use and still loving it. No problem, Cloudlifter still works great. UPDATE: Three and a half years of almost daily use and no problems. Still very excited about the product! UPDATE: It's six years old this month, use it 4-5 days a week. Still working, haven't had any issues with it since I bought it in August 2013.
