Description of 🎤 Cloud Microphones CL-1 Cloudlifter Mic Activator: Enhancing Audio Performance with Cloud Technology

Uses Phantom power to give passive mics (mainly used for dynamic and ribbon mics) up to +25dB without passing Phantom power on to mic. Easy to use self contained design requires only Phantom power to work. **Does not use Phantom power to power mics. Recommended for use with all passive dynamic microphones. Compatible with tube, battery, or power supply driven microphones – safe for all passive ribbons with no transfer of Phantom. Does not power the mics themselves using Phantom power (that is not what this is designed for). instead, place the cloudlifter at the front of your dynamic mic, then hit it with Phantom Power and your basic mic (even an SM58 style mic) will shine like never before.

Raises the sound threshold too high

I can get about 1/3 gain with my Apollo X4 before I hear any noise. I decided to just unplug that and go straight into my interface and now I'm getting a really clean signal. I've read many reviews saying you need this lifter if you're using sm7b, but that totally depends on your interface. As for the trick, I think you need a lifter, but my friend has a felt head and it seems to work great for him. On Apollo I still have about 1/6 of the way to increase the gain and it still sounds amazing. It

Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Make your SM7B louder with your cheap preamp. No difference in noise level.

Cloudlifter works as advertised. You've bought a Shure SM7B and a cheap Scarlett 2i2 interface and you want to get more gain out of it, this is what you need. -o-clock with cloudlifter added gives me about the same gain. This means that if you're already happy with the 2i2's maximum volume, running it at a lower gain and adding cloudlifters is getting you stuck. If you want a little more volume, that's great. I've seen some youtube reviews that seemed to suggest that the last little boost on…

Amazing product - preamp

I use a Shure SM7 mic, so most entry-level to mid-range mixers don't have enough preamps for the mic to work properly. Sign up for Cloudlifter. I was skeptical, but since Shure recommended it, I went and bought it. Wow! Brought the SM7 to life on my entry level Mackie mixer. Very impressed with the sound quality, the build quality (looks like a solid block of aluminum) and reassuring that it's all backed by a good warranty. Actually sounds cleaner than without, since I can turn down the gain on

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • Some issues

Is working. pure average gain for SM7B.

If you're looking for a simple gain amplifier for the SM7B, this is it. It is not an exciting tone and sound to listen to. So if you're looking for a specific sound and texture for your mic, look elsewhere. I'm also surprised at how unnecessary this is for a good preamp. Even decent preamps have enough gain to push the SM7B through, but running cheap stuff helps a lot and you should just do it. The cloud lifter they sent me was scratched and packed in an empty box filled only with wrapping…

I can't believe I've waited so long!

Not sure why I hesitated to buy this. I spent $400 on a Shure SM7B and $100 on a mixer and thought that was enough. nope! The sound quality was still an issue so thank goodness I decided to give it a try because WOW! This greatly improved my sound quality! And it was so easy to use! Literally just plug it in and you're done. This little device essentially just boosts the volume of your mic, so you can turn off all your presets to cut out background noise. And he did great! Build Quality…

Simple and efficient, great for Shure SM7B

Knowing the preamps on my pair of audio interfaces didn't offer much gain, I bought the CL-1 the same day I got my Shure Ordered SM7B (whose manual recommends using preamps with 50dB gain) just in case. I've heard some concerns about the Cloudlifter device - people said it cuts off low frequencies or otherwise discolors the sound, so I ran some tests on day one of ownership. I recorded live vocals and a boosted drum loop, first through just my interface's preamp and then through the…
