We're used to our garage opener turning on when we pull into the garage. It was nice not having to worry about carrying stuff and struggling for the light switch. Bought a new opener but the new one didn't have one. After waving our arms at the light several times (to no avail), we realized we needed a light with a motion sensor. It takes a little bit of how long it takes to turn it on and how dark it needs to be, but it works like a charm. We fitted an LED which is the "equivalent" of a regular 100 watt incandescent bulb and it works fine. We have had him for 17 months now and are happy. "Why? I think it has to do with the way it works. It feels the heat movement. Our stove is in the garage and I think sometimes when it's on just turning it on is enough. It's fine if you understand that's what's happening.".Our old door opener light did the same thing - I just don't know why. Speaking of heat, it works best when it's cooler, seeing your body heat more quickly. In the summer, it has something to do with it more trouble noticing body heat when the temperature is above 90 and above, hand waving works in this case.
