Review on Premium Cotton Muslin Swaddle Blanket: SwaddleDesigns Marquisette in Elegant Pastel Blue Paisley by Darlene Blair

Good product, suitable for duvets and swaddles

Okay, I'll admit it. I had absolutely no idea what a "Marquisette" was when I ordered this. I just wanted a nice light weight blanket (no flannel) to swaddle our new baby due late this spring. Received a blanket, I don't think that description is exactly right. Although the fabric is very light and breathable, perfect for swaddling in the summer, it is denser than gauze - closer to muslin. It also has a slight sheen that makes it look almost like a polyester or polyester fabric. But the blanket is cotton, so I think the sheen means the fibers are more tightly woven - which is good. I just didn't expect it to be so smooth. I love the design and colors of this product and the sizing is great. Although my main purpose is for swaddling, I am sure I will use it as a nursing cape. and even as a cover for our stroller/carrier to protect it from the sun. Although the fabric is different than I imagined, I'll probably order another one or two of these. I just wish they had some more "quirky" designs in non-traditional colors. I'm SO tired of the limited brown or light blue options for boys. Update: I pre-washed the duvet in anticipation of my baby's arrival and while it still looks and feels very nice, the fabric is a bit stiff. away, like glitter. Now I understand why they described the fabric as gauze; it is much softer and looser after washing. The design still looks great - no fading or shedding and I still think this blanket would be a great purchase for my summer baby.
