This piece of chalk is something like mascara. You apply it like a magic wand with mascara. I think it would be better if you had blonde hair, but I have darker hair and it didn't work (aqua blue was by far the best color and worked best). It also makes your hair SUPER stiff and difficult to comb. When you brush it, it takes most of the color out of your hair and you can see it on the brush. It was washed out with a rinse cycle so this part is nice. I really liked the light blue, but the others just seemed to stick poorly or stand out.
