I was skeptical about ordering this coffee pot but glad I did. That first coffee pot wasn't very hot, but the second was and has been ever since. I like that the heating pad lasts 40 minutes. or so. Along with the vacuum jug, it helps keep my coffee hot for hours. In my old (heated) coffee pot, the coffee would be cold and I would have to warm it up in the microwave. I used the timer once with no problems. It doesn't really matter to me, but it's nice to know it's an option. This unit is very attractive on the counter and is easy to keep clean. I am very grateful that it pours without going over the counter. My old pan was notorious for splattering all over the counter. i hated it I didn't have any spilled coffee on my plate either. This way the plate stays clean and hopefully doesn't get any rust or burn marks. I really like this pot and I hope it will serve me for many years. Time will tell as manufacturers make things that don't last as long so you'll have to keep buying them.
