Review on ๐Ÿ  Optimized Fluval Cycle Biological Enhancer for Effective Aquarium Water Treatment by Stephanie Hammons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

JUST STARTED USING NOW BUYING AGAIN

Just upgraded to 5 stars from an initial 4 star rating now that the product has proven itself! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. . . The aquarium is crystal clear after use, with a large number of new fish in just a few days. I ordered it again right away. This is my new "best buy" for this type of product. **First Review** I used Jungle StartZyme for many years and then tried Tetra SafeStartPlus. They worked really well, but I was looking for a better price/bigger size for "starter" bacteria. FluvalHagen is a respected, household name and the product description reads better than others I've reviewed, which is why I bought it. I've only used it once but I could see a difference in the tank overnight. I have found from reading many reviews of these "quick start" bacterial products that many people have been negative about them being useless or useless. I do not work. . . They REALLY WORK! In short, the aquarium must "cycle" in order for the aquarium to function properly in order for the fish to survive and be healthy. No filtration can replace the natural cycle of beneficial bacteria that "eatโ€ fish droppings and uneaten food in the aquarium. You need bacteria for that. These "bacteria in a bottle" do it much quicker, mostly instantly. I also noticed that some users added this before they had any fish in the tank. . . Bacteria and fish work together. It makes no sense to put such a product in an empty aquarium, the bacteria need fish droppings to have something to eat! Fish need bacteria to prevent them from getting sick/dying in their droppings before the cycle is balanced. A few **tips** for new aquarium keepers: Overfeeding is the biggest problem with fish. Don't feed more than the fish within 5 minutes! That's a lot less than you think. Feeding the fish is fun, but any piece not eaten will instantly pollute the aquarium and kill the fish. Several small feedings are better than one big one. Don't put too many fish in your tank, the "rule" is one inch of fish per gallon of water and the bigger the fish the bigger the mess! Don't add all the fish you want at once. Set up the aquarium, add this product, then add the first fish. This can be done on the first day without having to look at an empty tank and feeding very sparingly. This way you can work out how much to feed before the filter starts to colonize with bacteria. If the water stays clear, doesn't smell, and the fish feels good, you can add a few more fish. Use these "liquid bacteria" as directed until you have an aquarium, then do regular water changes as you will need to add "new water" and "drain out old water", about a third the volume every month. replaces regular water changes, light food and live bacteria in the aquarium, whatever the type of fish or tank...whether it's a jar of betta or a fancy setup full of expensive exotic fish.
