Each cube is approximately 1 1/2 inches. You will receive 2 cubes and a snap-top storage/freezer container. Inside each of these hermetic cases is a liquid (they're not solid metal cubes). not frozen, you can hear the liquid inside. Once frozen (which takes a few hours (4-6 says on the package)) you can add 1 or more to your drink to chill or keep it cool, just like you would with ice that doesn't melt and dilutes your drink like ice. I would say they perform about as well and last as long as ice cubes of the same size and quantity in terms of cooling. I would say these SS cubes keep your drink cool better than a warm drink. I don't notice that they add a metallic taste to what you're drinking. After use and washing, be sure to dry well before putting back into the storage/freezer and freeze bin to avoid getting stuck outside in the frozen ice bin. I buy Sed 2 sets. One of the 4 cubes is slightly wider than the others and will get stuck in the container after freezing. The other 3 come out easily, but this one takes some effort to get out.
