Review on Rugged Ridge 11585 04 Accessory Brake by Kelly Noonan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bright and easy to install, but has design flaws. Don't expect it to last.

Rated 2 out of 5. If you had asked me last year I would have given 4 out of 5 oversized tires to JK. However, I would choose a different brand if you don't plan on regularly modifying and checking. An issue with the wiring design (mentioned below) means the light will eventually fail. Hopefully not when you're 1,000 miles from home and the highway patrol is behind you. Pros: Brightness! - There is no strain relief built into the wiring. The movement of the wire where it enters the disc loosens the soldered joints and eventually causes a short circuit. The wires are soldered directly to the end of the light strip instead of using a splice. Although movement can be minimal, this is a very thin wire and any movement will weaken the connection. The wiring itself is stripe (sequential), which means that if the connection shorts, the entire drive will fail. - Price. There are much cheaper options on the market that could be better constructed. I bought it in May 2017. He retired in December 2018.
