Rugged Ridge 11585 04 Accessory Brake Review

Very easy installation on the JK. Just plug in and get started. Did. It has excellent visibility and incredible brightness. I really like the sturdy case. No sheet metal that can rust. It's also very light. Let's see how he can handle the elements.

Installation was easy. The plug and play connection made this a breeze. The longest part of the installation was removing the replacement part and then reinstalling it. The LEDs are a lot brighter than I expected and it's nice to know that the driver behind me can see all of my brake lights.

I bought 2 of these, one for my 03 TJ and one for my 17 JKU. I haven't installed JKU yet, but TJ was easy enough. I took off a star because neither of my two came with the "butt connectors attached" that I had to install. When I couldn't find them in the first box, I opened the second and hoped they were there, but they weren't either. Looks great on TJ and I look forward to installing it at JKU soon. I will update if there are any issues or anything worth noting.

I've had it for about a year. Judging by the packaging, it's backed by a five-year warranty. It looks great and is easy to install. Failed after a year. Tried contacting Rugged Ridge Support. WARNING. GREAT LIGHT BUT DOESN'T FIT THE STATE OF TEXAS FOR THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ACT YOU ACCEPT ON REVIEW NOW! The light itself is really good, easy to connect and install and looks very sharp on our '99 Jeep Wrangler with 15" rims. However, our local inspection is still unsatisfied, so we also have the option of buying one with a light above the tire. No logic or reading the actual condition code helped solve the problem.

This is the second brake light ring I've bought for my 2016 Sahara jku. The first was from Quadratec and I didn't realize there are 4 separate rooms in the ring that don't have LEDs until I installed them. I tried positioning the gaps behind the rim spokes so they weren't visible, but that didn't work. I was looking for a gapless brake light ring and came across this one. Well today I went to install. I removed the hoop, broke off the soldering iron, and pulled the lightbulb out of the box. At first glance it looked like light. lol It went downhill from there. The holes for the eyes weren't big enough so I had to pry it out with a drill. They fixed it quickly, no problem. Then I hit the wall. The plate that holds the LED lights is made from high quality ABS plastic and the individual LED bulbs are in a soft silicone ring (assumed waterproof). It's good. I'm giving 3 stars because the first one I received appeared to be a returned product as the box was ripped open, the wire attachment to the LED ring was broken and the wire connector was cut off. Rated 2 out of 5. If you had asked me last year I would have given 4 out of 5 oversized tires to JK. However, I would choose a different brand if you don't plan on regularly modifying and checking. An issue with the wiring design (mentioned below) means the light will eventually fail. Hopefully not when you're 1,000 miles from home and the highway patrol is behind you.
