I was skeptical when I bought this because I've always heard that babies need a firm sleeping pad to prevent SIDS. But at 8 months our daughter NEVER slept through the night. She would sleep perfectly with us and I didn't understand why. Well, I did a little test. My daughter cried as soon as I put her in her crib, so I didn't know if she just didn't want to be alone or if she hated her crib. I quickly found that she was happy to roll over to sleep in bed with me and that she had difficulty sleeping on her side in her crib due to the very hard mattress. So I put some pillows in her crib and laid her down to see if she started crying right away. She didn't! She rolled onto her side and actually fell asleep. I woke her up and took out the pillows, knowing it wasn't safe for a baby to sleep on, but to me it confirmed that she just wasn't comfortable enough on that hard mattress. So we bought that. We didn't have a bad smell like other people said. He was weak but not really bad. Now my daughter usually sleeps 12 hours at a time with this in her crib. In fact, she prefers her own bed and will not sleep in our bed again. This item is AMAZING! I wish it was sooner.
