So I could never understand why people buy expensive squares. I bought this mid-range set based on a book recommendation and am very glad I did. I always use cheap but accurate angles from the hardware store. The advantage of a more expensive square, in my opinion, is the accuracy of the markings on the blade. The markings are thinner and therefore more accurate. They are pressed deeper into the blade than simply painted on the blade; This in turn makes them more accurate as the color tends to rub off or become harder to read over time. Each of the 4 blade edges is marked with different levels of precision, from 1/8" to 1/64". You just can't get that kind of accuracy on a $10 square. So if you only want to get a 90 degree angle and want to measure to within 1/8 inch or maybe 1/16 inch, use cheaper angles. But if you find that this isn't enough, I recommend this set of squares.
