These candles are made of hard plastic not artificial wax. This means that even when lit, you don't get what you expect from a somewhat see-through black wax candle. I have white flameless candles with perch wax and when they burn you can actually see the light through the base of the candle which is what I expected from them. But when it's lit in a dark room, all you see is a lit fuse. The only way to experience the fact that the candles are black is to turn on the lights or use them throughout the day, which totally defeats the purpose. They also look EXTREMELY cheap in daylight. Especially the wick, which is that little floating piece of plastic on top of a hard black plastic candle. I really wanted to love them but they are terrible in every way. So I'm sending them back.
