Great product, mediocre support

I bought this to backup my personal files and Plex server. When the systems work well. Having access when you are away from home is a privilege. The biggest complaints I have are the lack of how-to instructions and the delay in responding to tech support questions. An example of adding a drive to raid5 with cache installed. When I received the unit it didn't have two screws to mount the drives and after explaining it in several emails they sent me the screws for free.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Beautiful and easy to set up mail server, web server and media server (with Plex) and secures all your devices as well as DVR security cameras. Love online video courses that teach you how to set it up and use it. Can also be used with HDMI as a PC for home cinema. Hard drives cost more as the size increases, which increases the price significantly. You also need to add 2 caching SSD disks to increase speed. Also replaced the factory 8 gigs and added another 8 gigs of same type memory for a…

Better than Qnap for storage

I have a Qnap TS-451A NAS that I bought many years ago. I spent months setting up RAID 5 of 4 drives. Changed discs several times, always the ones listed as compatible. During those months I had to replace drives 3 and 4 no matter what drive I put in there, forcing me to rebuild the RAID. I gave up and have been using it with a drive ever since. I love the applications you can run, especially for me as an IoT developer. I recently bought an Asustor AS6604T NAS. Upgrade it to 12GB RAM, put 4…

By far the best hardware in its price range

My box comes complete with four 10TB Seagate Exos drives, two 512GB SSDs (cache only) and 16GB RAM (that's more than from the CPU manufacturer specified and 8GB specified) supplied by Asustor). max but recognizes 16GB and I haven't had any problems yet). The hardware is top notch and comes from the folks at Asus. The only limitation I have is that I come from a Synology machine that is 4 years old and the software is definitely more user friendly than Asustor. If you like working more with…

Great network/home add-on

This is my fifth NAS box. I have Netgear Readnas 104, 2 4TB wdmyclouds and 16TB WDMycloud ultra. This box was purchased with two 12TB Segate Enterprise hard drives. I later added 2 more and that's why it only gets 4 stars. I added 2 more drives after putting about 6TB of movies on them and it took 3 days to transfer the data to the 3rd/4th. distribute drive. Sometimes it won't let me connect to my network and it takes a minute or two to wake up. I accidentally disconnected it from the network…

I'm in love with data storage

Until now, everything has been plug and play. Easy one-click integration with apps on my phone, Google Gmail integration, and apps on my Windows clients. Two NVME cards ($80 each here at AMZN) and an additional 8GB flash drive ($20) were added, and yes, it's a very fast machine. Running two RAID arrays, one for storage, one for backup, and then a 1TB SSD for OS and applications. Connected to 10GBE ports via a new switch (XGS1010-12-ZZ0101F) and my main windows client is connected via 2.5GBE…

Pros
  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • Insecure

Bought after about a month of research, it was the only 4-bay box I could find in my price range with an Intel quad-core processor, NVME cache, HDMI out, and DDR4 RAM . Having had a fantastic experience with Asus in the past and knowing the connections between the two companies, I decided to give it a try. SO HAPPY I DID THIS. Had to contact support twice, once because I was an idiot and couldn't find some files, I figured it out before they did. The second time was because I had issues with…
