A good (from inexpensive) solution for creating a home archive, with the possibility of organizing cloud storage, and a multimedia server. Some pros: Popular brand, affordable price, nice design, good manufacturer support, easy setup, a large number of services and protocols. Cons below: There is no possibility of expanding the system (RAM) memory, although the built-in (1 GB) is enough for most tasks.

On the next week I will buy this basket for my home. There was a need toorganize video surveillance, so I buy it for it. Plus, all friends and family have fun and a free cloud, photo archives, a torrent and a bunch of goodies. The only thing: be sure to follow the recommendations of synology and change the standard port. Well, getcomnfused with the certificate if there is no money or desire to pay, that is,

Pros
  • Great nas for the money. I bought in small offices for 15-20 people. 2 screws in the mirror, took the Seagate for video surveillance. Write speed about 150-165 MB sec. It has already been implemented exchange and backup servers for a year - the flight is normal. A separate plus of LDAP, but this is not relevant for the home. And here in the domain - irreplaceable on convenience function.
Cons
  • I am a conservative admin and I try to use only the necessary services and functions. If you find fault, then you can remember the little things, but to be honest, I didn’t find any shortcomings for such a price (I bought it for 18,500 a year ago). On the other hand, the company's money, not mine.

The perfect product for any user!

Pros: Great for backups and home media library (clients: streaming hi-res audio player, Android TV, wet devices). Works well with PLEX. Got cons: Sometimes it is noisy, but not critical. The interface becomes dull if you want too much from it.

Great value for money, one of the best offers.

With its pros. Easy setup, huge functionality, laconic design, huge selection of software With its cons. In my opinion, the percentage is rather weak. It is worth loading it with indexing about 1000 photos and it is out.

Quality is top notch, happy with everything.

4k plays on TV, when connected via a 5g network, it does not pull at 2.4g. Writes 2 ip cameras at 5mp in parallel. Loaded with the functions that I need. Photo backup, movie collection, automatic torrent download, video surveillance. I personally did not find any problems during operation. Has some pros Compactness. As for a beginner, everything is pretty clear. Services to taste. Has cons: A bit noisy, in principle, you can change the cooler (cooling profile in quiet mode). Internet connection

Love it! But let's add something.

I left my last Synology on for 5 years and the ethernet port died. This one has a faster processor, so streams 1080p/1080i clearly without the peak performance of my previous station. My only thought is that the station should beep when there is a major hardware failure. Instead, all the lights keep flashing while my backups don't cycle through. It's funny knowing that you have a big project coming up this week and your computer crashes.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • A little torn

Absolutely perfect machine! Couldn't be happier!

Let's be honest! I work in IT and was struggling to set up my own NAS and do everything manually. Synology blew it away with these devices. I just switched from 216j to 418play and am very satisfied. I really love how easy it was to transfer the device and I would 100 percent advise against anyone I know buying these devices! Synology doesn't pay me for this review, I'm just a fan of their hardware! Great buy, couldn't ask for more from a NAS!

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Exchange option

Exceptional product,

This is my second Synology product. The first was the DS213 which is also good but I needed 4 bays and I really liked the extended functionality of this unit as a video server. These Synology products are reliable NAS. The operating system is very stable. They are expandable and offer secure RAID storage. Setup is very easy. There are many help documents and videos available online if you need them. All in all a great product if you need a NAS. Perhaps the best I can say is that I didn't know…

  • Very good price

Surprisingly easy upgrade/migration

My previous Diskstation was damaged by lightning. I was expecting to be able to migrate the data since the drives were idle when lightning struck. I made sure to call and get instructions and software to help me transfer my data (they helped me a lot with this). I moved the drives into the same slots on the new machine, launched their software, and when they told me it looked like the data could be transferred, I clicked OK and went to dinner. After dinner I returned to check the migration…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Fails after 9 months

Overall I really like this product but last week I found that my DS418play was not working. Upon further investigation, I found that the device was powered off. I tried restarting it and it wouldn't turn on at all. I then went through the process of checking that nothing was disconnected, all connections were tight. I can only say thank you for the 2 year warranty because I contacted Synology and within 8 hours of filing a support ticket I was approved for an "extended" PMA. In order not to…

Pros
  • Always likes
Cons
  • It worries me

Bought this a month ago and have had constant problems. After a month of back and forth I got this response stating that all supported MACs should be cabled to the NAS. I have a WiFi connection with 140 MB/s. -- Initial request <abbreviated> The speed to the modem is 144 MB/s. I can run a 105 Mb/s internet speed test. The NAS is directly connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. SynologyOk strongly recommends performing Time Machine backups (and backups in general) over a wired…

This is a waste of time - your data is not "protected " or "safe ".

First I got the MCSE certification in the mid 1990s, I'm not new to IT or advanced NAS. I have installed many backup solutions and here are my impressions of the Synology product.1. The installation and configuration is not easy. It basically has its own operating system and is not very intuitive. The advantage is that it is very obvious, which is why there are many videos on YouTube that explain the basics of the system. Lots of TLAs and confusing configuration options to go through.2. Fuses…
