I bought it as a gift for my sister. She used a very old, power-hungry, noisy PC to run PFSENSE, a software router with many enterprise-class security features. So we installed PFSense, downloaded additional security packages (IDS with rules for new threats and firewall settings) and imported the settings. No, it doesn't use WIFI in PFSense, but it still uses a separate WAP. Silence really is worth its weight in gold, and power consumption has dropped from probably 100 watts to 2530 watts. And it fits on a shelf. I have to get one like this. UPDATE: My sister got her first electric bill since using it for her 24/7 firewall instead of her old computer. Your account went down by $50. Wow. She is excited. Has been running for over a month now, no problems, runs quiet and cool. TO UPDATE. Still works so I finally bought it myself and set it up earlier this week. It replaces the Intel Mini-ITX computer. I love the silence and there is a lot less heat coming out which is important as it is in the bedroom and we are having a really hot summer. Very responsive as a PFSENSE router. Start IDS and PFBlocker as well as OPENVPN and IPSEC tunnel. Only complaint, this time I bought bare bones and used my storage and old MSATA (two of them). Both MSATA are good Samsung, pass smart and are used very little but I get a lot of errors and it freezes regularly with the HDD light on all the time. Tried both, same problem. I installed an SSD and everything works great. I can't tell if it's a compatibility issue with this MSATA model (they are identical) or something else, but the SSD works, so I'm fine.
