Worst case check first

This item is worst case as the only area that shouldn't be leaking is where it is leaking. I'm not sure if this is an isolated case, but it's probably best to check before installing. So we installed it and it looked like it was working fine because I checked and didn't see any leaks from any of the bolts including this one. However, after a few days I smelled and saw oil leaking from the release screw, which is supposed to release transmission oil. He was leaking. I checked to see if it's leaking, which it was, but it's still leaking. It was late at night so I didn't want to lose any more oil or go through the cap removal procedure because I had already ruined my old cap which was replaced for the same reason. I had to use Permatex Optimum Max Temp Gasket Maker to plug the leak so at least I stopped losing gear oil.

Pros
  • Pans and drain plugs
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options
