I find these work best for open pimples as they draw out excess fluid and pus, helping to reduce the size of the pimple and healing the area allow. It doesn't really help closed pimples or deep cysts, but I still sometimes cover them to avoid touching or picking at the site. On a side note, large patches work well for small wounds anywhere on the body as it is essentially a small hydrocolloid dressing. As a bonus, I also use it when I get an infection or bumps around the edges of my nose piercing. After soaking the area in saline and gently drying it, I cut the patch in half so each half fits my piercing hole. It draws excess fluid out of my piercing and makes the skin on my nose heal much faster.
