I've only had them a month. They replaced the factory two-piece cleats (cleats with a thin metal cap) that were corroding and sticking to the aluminum alloy rim. The old eyelets were mostly destroyed when they were removed and no, they were not overtightened. Time will tell, but this one-piece design makes more sense and won't buckle from accidental (or amateur) excessive torque. If you're thinking about replacement tips, do your research. Check the manufacturer's website for the correct size. Many product descriptions state that they are suitable for your vehicle when they are not.
