I've only had them a month. They replaced the factory two-piece cleats (cleats with a thin metal cap) that were corroding and sticking to the aluminum alloy rim. The old eyelets were mostly destroyed when they were removed and no, they were not overtightened. Time will tell, but this one-piece design makes more sense and won't buckle from accidental (or amateur) excessive torque. If you're thinking about replacement tips, do your research.
