This refractometer is amazing! I have a reef aquarium with a $150 wartfrog, a $950+ coral and a Maxima clam, so I need to keep the water parameters as close to ideal as possible. Every time my water level goes down I don't know if I need to add more distilled H2O due to evaporation or more saline water due to water being collected by my protein skimmer. With this handy device, all you have to do is put a few drops of salt water on the lens and get accurate readings. This refractometer is also calibrated. I have a PETCO hydrometer that oscillates in the water. It works, but it's difficult to get accurate readings. I was hesitant to buy this due to the price but having lost some very expensive pieces of coral due to the wrong salinity this was a "no problem" purchase. I think it will pay off over time.
