Overall these cat shelves are ok. but I decided to purchase additional materials to make them safe for my 12 lb cat. The screw holes on the shelf are 10.5 inches apart at the top, and I only had one center post for the intended location of the first. I don't trust anchors in my wall so I attached a board to a post and attached a cat. I wanted another cat shelf on the side of the table (to keep them from walking on the table while my husband is working) so I drilled two holes in the side and bought long bolts and nuts to attach it bin I'm very glad my cat has two new places to escape her siblings to when she needs a break.
