Revainrating 3 out of 5

OK I think. Best in Automotive and Automotive Electronics

Ordered a camera with different stuff on July 1st as an automotive project. At Revain everything went as I expected, quick order, good price so naturally my confidence followed. Everything else arrived within a few days, so I started the project thinking that this camera would arrive later, in a day or two at most. Fast forward a few days, nothing, not even shipping info. On July 6th I get a message that the package has been sent. July 9th I receive a tracking number from Fed-Ex. So July 13th arrived and the goods finally arrived. No explanation why it takes 9 days to give it to the fed ex guy, just a bag with box and packing list dated 07/09/2012 to remind me of their speed. Needless to say, my confidence in Revain was shaken several notches and Price Pros had no chance of future business. I opened the bag and found the crumpled box. It's okay if the camera can't ride in the back of a van, it won't enjoy riding in the front of a Challenger SRT8. I open the crumpled box and everything is there. Camera, two screws and two bundles of cables with product booklet. The chamber is small with a solid construction and should fit nicely into the trellis without drawing attention. In fact, it even has an adhesive pad on the bracket if you're brave enough to attach it without screws. The cables are fine, but they didn't live up to expectations (no pun intended). The camera comes with a 14 inch pigtail and two connectors on the end. You get a 12ft video cable so you can run videos at the end of the car and you get a 2ft power cable. I'm having a hard time imagining a case where the camera's power is coming from somewhere other than the video input, so it's a little unclear why the manufacturer didn't include a cable of a reasonable length and had the installer cut it at one end and bare wires on the other. Of course, this can be remedied by buying more cables and getting it right, but there are two things you need to keep in mind when buying this camera: Unless your camera's power supply is within two feet, have an extra cable from where you mount the camera. Don't rely on your trust. with Revain and get a completion date if your item is from Price Pros.
