Don't play, this device will work for you. I've tried this device on multiple systems (old Macs and old PCs) and it didn't work on ONE of them. I even tried the second block and it had the exact same problem. Video works but (analog) audio is not embedded. I have no sound from my HDMI monitor, I have no sound from the line out/headphone out jack on the monitor, and I get no sound when using an HDMI audio extractor in front of the monitor. However, if I switch to a DVI SVGA adapter and a cheap SVGA+Audio HDMI adapter, I get both video and audio (with all of the previously mentioned output options)! Obviously the problem lies in this component. As it works for some, it might only work with DVI-A output and cannot embed audio with DVI-D output or vice versa. The video quality is much better going directly from DVI to HDMI, so I'd love to find a working DVI+Audio to HDMI solution, but it's not.
