This is thick plastic, expensive and thin. The part that sticks in the sand is long enough to create a good grip. The round part for holding the drink is a bit too big for me. The drink seems too slippery, but I don't use large cups. I wish it was a little smaller. What I really like about these special beach holders is that they have an extra rectangular area for cell phones, MP3 players, etc. Most beach holders only have a round part for a cup. It includes the drink and some extras. This is a HUGE plus! I actually personalized them with vinyl stickers to give as gifts.
