School told my new kindergartener who lives in sneakers and slippers because he said his feet hurt all the time, should have tennis shoes with velcro for gym class! So what was I up to!?! I knew that New Balance made shoes for adults in wide, extra wide and bigger, so I decided to start with that. and I'm lucky! Finally my toddler has a pair of traditional tennis shoes that he says fit his feet well. Based on a not so scientific "mother test" I think he has a little more room in his toe box but I also increased the size by 1 because it's summer and he's still 2 months away from school. Also, I figured he could just wear thick socks with them if they were too big. Conclusion: New Balance shoes are durable and comfortable. But most importantly - I needed a very wide pair of toddler tennis shoes with velcro straps that my son would actually wear and this is the only brand I could find that could provide me with these - it was just a bonus that they did so good looking and well made by a reliable brand. I am very happy! (My son is 5.5 and has a 7 inch foot and I bought the 12.5 extra wide. I think the wides would probably fit too, but I'm so tired of him complaining - he even says socks are tight and bother him - I just bought the widest option available). And I am very happy with this purchase!
