Review on Van Heusen 3/5 Sleeve 4XL by Chris Pollreisz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The fit is a bit off for Van Heusen

I have tons of Van Heusen short sleeve button down shirts, but my collection of dress shirts is getting smaller and smaller. Since Van Heusen tend to run true to size on large and plus sizes, I had no hesitation in choosing these. The material is a little thinner than I would expect from a shirt and has some polyester feel. Maybe you could wear it without a tank top in the summer, but I probably wouldn't. The fit on the body was excellent as expected. The length of the sleeves was ok, but I found them a little long for a somewhat "big" cut. However, there were a few things that really stood out to me. The length from top to bottom is quite short. I'm 6ft 1" and don't often buy things in a 'large' size, but if I were in a store I'd almost certainly change it to a 3XLT. I'm also not a big fan of the collar. The fit is okay (at 3X it's about the equivalent of a 19 1/2), but the collar itself turns into a 70's bow tie if you leave the top open. I went as far as hitting him with some strength and it still felt like I should buy a gold locket chain. So if you are at least a little tall I would consider a high cut and not expecting it to look very good as a more casual shirt.

Pros
  • I really like this shirt but $39 is way too expensive for me.
Cons
  • May not look good on all skin tones
