Excellent product. Yes, it's brown powder and it can be messy, but it does what it says on the tin. Less than a week after cleaning and packing the gum (with a retainer) I can feel a big difference. Areas with deep pockets are felt more, less sensitive. I'll know more after seeing a periodontist, but from experience I'd say it works. Does not stain teeth or retainers. The taste doesn't bother me, but I'm used to Chinese herbs and medicinal herbs. Update: After 6 weeks of use in combination with Under Gum Irrigant, the periodontal pockets measuring 6 and 7 reduced to 2 and 3, sparing my gum surgery and saving me $700!
