I installed this spark gap in several places, but it didn't damage anything. I first tried this in a kitchen where I was dealing with a fruit fly problem. It didn't work so I tried other outlets around the house. Whenever I see flies, they fly higher and not close to the ground, so I don't think they are attracted to the lightning rod that low, even in a dark room. However, the sockets in the kitchen are above the worktop. I expected him to catch something there. I have a larger full size lightning rod but I like the very small size of this one - too bad it didn't fit.
