This is a nice piece of wood that looks great on the dresser. Once we experimented with settings it is working well. The directions don't exactly explain how to set the watch in but we figured it out. This is real wood. It is very quiet but yes you do hear it very slightly. If the watch is low on battery, it takes a long time to charge it. We have had it on the charger for a month and without wearing it, the charger will maintain the level where your watch is when inserted. It is more or so like a very distant chirping of crickets---very distant. This does not disturb our sleeping but if we are awake we do hear it. Pleased with the purchase.
